#180. dried berries and TOMORROW!

At least I think thats what they are...If any of you are wondering why I take so many pictures of nature.. its because when I'm walking home from a long day on campus and suddenly remember that I need a picture for the day, I look around to see what is the tiniest bit photo-esque..and its always nature!

- TOMORROW (March 1st) is my half birthday. I will be 21 1/2 years old. Remember when you were a little kid and you always included the 1/2 once you reach that point in the year? Like you would never say.. "I'm 8 years old". You would always say "I'm 8 1/2". Well I'm not going to do that.. but trust me, come summer if anyone asks my age I will bring out my inner kid and say, Oh I'll be 22 in September.

- TOMORROW is also the half birthday of this 365 day project! I'm hoping to have an extra special picture of some sorts.. we'll see how my day goes.

-TOMORROW is also the first day of March. Oh my artichokes, when did time start moving at double speed?

- TOMORROW is also free pancake day at Ihop!

Two weeks ago, I vowed to take a break from Facebook until my Campus Crusade STINT application was finished (so that I could have more time to devote to it and to praying about my future)
Guess who went on Facebook today? Oh, that would be me.
And you know why?
BECAUSE I'M DONE WITH MY STINT APPLICATION!
Thank you Jesus.

Yup.. after I finished my application I spent my afternoon on Facebook and watching Eagle Eye for the first time (amazing movie!)
Also Cuse beat Georgetown today! Word.

69-64, baby! I'm so proud of SU.. it's like they were a different team tonight!

-Why do I consider myself a loyal fan? Because I put my multi tasking abilities to good use and watched the game via ESPN3 on mute..... while I was in a group meeting, working on my individual part.
-This picture was taken with my cell phone camera.. I thought my group members would have thought it a bit weird if I pulled out my huge SLR camera to take a picture of my laptop.

Did a bit of homework-ing and CRU Stint application-ing today in Panaschi lounge with Mike & Emily.

I only took these two photos, and I realized how they coincidentally have the same expression in both photos..

In this one they look like they're sleeping..

And in this one they're pouting..

I didn't tell them to pose.. so I think the coincidence of their expressions is pretty hilarious.

Esther Havens: Humanitarian Photographer

I don't know if its because I'm in the midst of praying/applying for opportunities to move to South America for 1-2 years....or because as I look at these photos I'm reminded of the people I've met in Peru & Ecuador... or because Esther Havens is simply an AMAZING photographer..... but I am in absolute awe of these photo galleries, specifically her one on South America. Also her Rwanda photos are breath taking.

The guys on our CRU leadership team wrote each of the girls on the leadership team these amazing & encouraging letters for Valentines Day! (We are BLESSED).
So tonight some of l-team girls got together and decided to bake for them as a way to say thank you.

A few months ago I came across this recipe for Cupcakes in a Jar. So I suggested we make them tonight!

I've been familiar with Louis Armstrong's music was ever since I first heard "What a Wonderful World" featured in the movie Madeline (one of my favorite movies when I was a little girl).. But it's just now that I'm realizing how in love I am with his voice. Listen to this song and you'll see what I'm talking about. Do I hear new Pandora station? Yes, yes I do.

#165. CRU Valentines Day

Syracuse CRU has a tradition for Valentines Day where the boys host a dinner for the girls. Today was that day..and it was absolutely amazing. So much fun! Nice job guys :)

(I decided to be lazy and not bring my SLR camera. Let me tell you, I regretted it... Maybe its because I've become spoiled with the quality my SLR will produce.. but I'm just not as happy with the photos I took. Oh well, moments are moments right?)

Dinner was great, the V-day music was great, and the decorations were great.. but probably the best part of the night was a speed dating game the guys came up with. (What the above picture is from). The girls were given a question to ask on our "speed date" with one of the guys. And we had to attempt to get the answer to the question but without directly asking the question. And we had to do that all in 2 minutes. So much fun.

I've decided to say goodbye to Facebook and Twitter. Forever? No. Until I finish my CRU Stint and International Justice Mission application? YES!


Not spending meaningless time on FB, having more time to pray about my future, finishing these applications within the next week (hopefully) and the fact that God is going to help me through all of it = One Happy Imani

Today in my Intro to Culinary Arts class we learned how to roast today (mostly meat but vegetables too).
Every partner grouping made a different dish.. so we were able to go around and try about 10 different meals.

Yeah, you can probably expect to see a food related photo every Thursday from now on.

I recently read Psalm 63 with one of the girls I disciple (and an amazing friend).
"O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you,as in a dry and weary land where there is no water." (verses 1).
Here's the reality of my life in the past two weeks. I have thirsted for him and yet I have not sought him. I've shot up prayers here and there, half-heartedly (and half asleep) opened his word at 3am because I felt obligated to check "quiet time" off my daily to-do list, and fooled myself into thinking that listening to Christian music while getting ready in the morning can substitute for time spent with him. But  I know that what I'm thirsting for.. cannot be fulfilled with the way I've been living my faith. Today as I sat with my bible and tea for an extended period of time.. I was reminded of this. 
God I pray that you will continue to allow me to thirst for you and never let that thirst be quenched with anything but spending time with you in your word.

#154. gym

This picture may not be THAT exciting to you, but it is to me.

I made a New Years Resolution to be "healthier".. within that I want to go to the gym 3 times a week, go to bed earlier, drink more water, eat breakfast, & take my vitamins on a daily basis.
This is week two of the gym going, and I'll be honest and say.. I'm amazing myself with my drive to go to the gym at 11:30pm (Our gym closes late & it's the only time I was able to go today).
Part of this drive comes from some of the girls from my small group (which was AMAZING tonight) talking about running a marathon. And it dawned on me.. I should sign up for one, because here's the thing: I have absolutely ZERO drive to workout. Z-e-r-o. I don't like doing it, I could find a million and two better things to do with that time, and I have pretty terrible stamina.  So if I have this future 5K race in sight.. I'd be forced to train for it.
We'll see... to be honest I come up with alot of ideas tiny plans for my life that never come to culmation. So if you see me tomorrow or a couple days from now on campus.. just remind me.. and maybe it'll remind me to sign up.

#153. intramural basketball

Went to watch my friend's Intermural Basketball game tonight!

Let me explain to you how amazed I am by the photo I took above. See, I'm not particularly good at sports photography. Why? My attention span usually calls me to something else versus trying to capture the quick moments. So the above photo is indeed one of the best sports photos I've ever taken!

I don't even want to know how many days until graduation... my heart can only handle so much.
