Kara asked me a couple weeks ago to do a photoshoot for her and her boyfriend, Graham when he comes to visit from TX. So Saturday morning we headed downtown and walked around a bit!

Here are just a few of my favorites. I plan to put plenty more on a online portfolio, that is currently in the works.

-I wish I had I had more "typical NYC" photos for you.. but this one that I was able to snap in between visiting two different agencies, will just have to do.
- Also I realized I never explained what exactly I was doing in NYC.. I'll do that tomorrow. Too tired right now. 
- And lastly.. looking through my photos I realized I forgot to upload one to my blog yesterday.. so take a  look at yesterday's post for a new addition (the first picture).

#56. fire hydrant

I'm the photo editor for Equal Time Magazine this semester and as I was shooting for a story today.. I came across this fire hydrant thing.

 I had a few options for a "photo of the day." This photo won, simply because I think all the colors are super pretty.

#55. cool things from Ecuador

I brought so many amazing things back home with me from Ecuador.
Those are in fact colored pencils covered in bark.
I enjoyed these so much.. I gave a couple to my friends as souvenirs.


Something I learned today: when inside a grossly lit room.. ALWAYS set your own white balance. I can't believe I never did it before this photo..

Yup.. another "abstract" one.
But here's what I've decided. I really like these types of photos.. you know, the photos of something normal but at an extremely weird angle, the photos I would have never handed into my photography professor last semester, the photos where you can't exactly tell what it is.. until you look really closely.

#50. and another one

More abstract-ness. yay!

This is across the street from where I catch the bus back to campus after my internship.

It's the overhang of some office..with the building behind it (just in case its TOO abstract for you and you can't tell what it is)

Random Things on my mind:

•  People in the library can be EXTREMELY rude &and creepy. As in level 10 creeper. Ask me for that story next time you see me.. it's a good one.
• I follow a photography husband/wife team by the name of Bobbi & Mike. They blogged a photo story of their friend in labor. Watching how they captured beautiful-ness of this event..  strongly reaffirmed my decision to make my photography more than just a "hobby." • Two things- 1) Yes, it is her in labor, but it is totally "PG" 2)You may cry.. because I did.
• I listened to "Winter Song" by Sara Barielles & Ingrid Michaelson today. Dare I say it.. but I'm excited for the first snow fall & that feeling of "winter." But lets make a deal Syracuse, how about you snow for one day.. and then be 60s and 70s for the rest of winter?
• My biggest prayer these days has been time management. Because I've come to a realization that it is going to be God & God alone who gets me through my days/weeks/months. Pray with me?

#49. abstract

My friend Chelsea informed me that she sometimes doesn't like when photographers do "artsy" photos... to the point where you can't tell what the photo is.
Well this one is for you Chelsea. Yes, it is abstract.. BUT I can tell you what it is.. its a vent thing,  with a yellow thing on top of it. It's on the ground, and its by the dome. When you come back from Espana.. you should look for it.
I enjoy this photo, hope you do too Chels, and everyone else: I hope you do too.

1. There's like 4 million steps.
2. Doesn't it look like the boogey man would just be waiting for you at the top of it?

(PS- I'm aware alot of my pictures are at night and are of some form of light fixture. I think I need to start trying to take more pictures throughout my day!)

#45. timberwolves game.

Tonight the Timberwolves played the Distons in a pre-exhibition game at the Dome
Why the dome? Well.. Jonny Flynn and Wes Johnson now play for the Timberwolves. And it's homecoming weekend! (And I'm sure a huge marketing ploy.)

#6 on the Timberwolves (the guy blocking in this photo) is Jason Hart, an SU basketball alum!

What I learned at tonight's game..
- I need to stop being so indecisive, pick a zoom lens, and order it. Because really, even though sports photography isn't my favorite.. there's no way you can go to a game and not have a good amount of zoom on your camera. (The only reason why I got the shot above was because I got out of my seat and moved pretty close to the game)

#44. it's beginning to look alot like CHRISTMAS

Hello pseudo Christmas tree on campus..

•I listen to Christmas music YEAR round.  I don't follow silly rules like.. you can only listen to after Thanksgiving. If I feel like listening to it ... I do.
•I enjoy when everyone else comes to their senses & starts catching the Christmas fever... usually it is around Turkey Day.. but just last week my friend Steph started tweeting/blogging about Christmas.
•So here's to Steph, Amanda W. and anyone else who is starting a few Christmas traditions early!

PS- If you think I'm excited now, just wait for the day when the local radio station starts playing 24/7 Christmas music. Oh baby.

#42. factory smoke.

 As I was walking home from classes/meetings I saw (from afar) this factory plant thing sending smoke into to the sky. I went COMPLETELY out of my way to get a photo....But I'm kind of glad I did, because I'm actually quite in love with this photo.

And that bird flying across the sky just as I snapped my shutter.. ah-mazing.



PS- So.. I think I'm going to give a "how to leave a comment on this blog" tutorial. Because here's the thing, I would love to know who's reading this blog & what pictures you guys like.  Plus I just generally love comments. I've had a few people say to me.. " I dont know how to leave a comment on your blog".. so if thats whats been stopping you.. this tutorial will help ya.

• Step 1- You read Imani's blog & you think to yourself.. hmm, I think I want to say something about the picture she posted today!
• Step 2- Click the link that says "0 comments" (That zero will change depending on if anyone had left a comment that day)

Not the most "extravagant" photo. But the story behind the pic, (catching up/drinking coffee/shopping for hours with one of my closest friends)... is pretty awesome.

Now before you immediately imagine your grandpa wearing these shoes.. just know that these shoes cost TWO DOLLARS, are McGregor brand (apparently.. they're typically pretty expensive),  are wicked cute, and are SUPER comfortable.

(PS- I know this is my second picture of shoes in two days... but how could I resist showing everyone my thrift store win?)

I took a break from studying for my COM Law test today and took a picture of my chuck taylors.

Disclaimer- I never call my converse, "chuck taylors." I'm only doing it now.. because I wanted this blog post to have a cool title.

Also, I'm a big fan of the slight bokeh (blurriness) behind my shoes/through the window.

2.  The light source for these photos comes from a mini lantern I found at Jamesville Beach on Labor Day.
3.  I just saw "The Social Network." Now I'll admit, I had PRETTY low expectations going into the movie.. but they were all wrong. SUCH a hilarious movie. Go see it. Seriously..
4.  Expect to see more photos like this.. I had way too much fun doing it!

Today my friend Rachel asked if she could photograph me for her a portrait assignment for her black and white film class. When she called me to tell me she was here, she asked to bring down a few things that "describe me."

Too exhausted to think in aynthing but list form..
- Emily B (eab) and I went on a walk today to get some photographs of her.
- I took a ton, but to be honest.. I've fallen asleep twice  mid-type in the past 5 minutes. I do not have the mental capacity to go over 200+ photos and post more than two.

- UPDATE: I actually fell completely asleep last night while typing this blog post.  When I woke up this morning (and found my laptop on the floor & light turned off somehow).. this (unpublished) post was still open on the screen
